Ashtanga yoga is a steady practice in which a series of poses are done in the same order and performed with particular breathing patterns. What characterizes Ashtanga yoga is the dynamic interconnecting postures that create a sense of flow and movement between static asanas. Ashtanga yoga is both vigorous and restful, technical and forgiving. The asana sequence is progressive and meditative, furthering a deepening of the practice, both within a session and over time. It is meant to be individually modified to optimally benefit all levels of physical ability.
Restorative Yoga offers a gentle, healing approach to releasing deep layers of tension throughout the body. Blocks, bolsters and blankets are used to offer support and create grounding postures which are held for five to ten minutes. Candlelight and soft music/sounds create an intimate and peaceful atmosphere. This class is open to all levels. Poses can be modified to fit any body type or to aid in the recovery of illness or injury. Class limited to 14 students.
